Toil&Foil

(2017) This is a site specific set of performative photographs taken at Island Lake Conservation Area in Orangeville, Ontario and at Forks of the Credit Creek in Caledon, Ontario. Taking a hand-made tin-foil witch hat to these rural landscapes creates an uncanny valley effect. By taking the idea of the lonesome figure and multiplying them, it creates doppelgangers; it creates a play between the staged and unstaged, the real and fake, the humorous and the lonely.
